Avatar In Real Life
Hundreds of millions were moved by AVATAR’s message about
the interconnectedness of all living things. Thank you James Cameron for being
one of the greenest directors of all time. Now if only we had flying jellyfish
in our forests. Earth is our Pandora, and it is our calling to protect it.
Once you start looking, you see a
galaxy of real world Avatar situations around us. The Chevron situation in Ecuador
is one. The tar sands in Alberta, Canada
is another. The
event will highlight a real life campaign to stop the destruction of the
habitat of one of Earth's own Na'vi indigenous people, the Kayapo, by the Belo
Monte Dam project in the Brazilian Rainforest. United we call for the preservation of our living planet -- its
species and cultures. Like the Na'vi, we cannot survive on a raided planet. On
this Earth Day, we take a stand for life.
Speaking of green, it cost $500 million to make AVATAR, and audiences
paid $2.6 billion in total to see the film in theaters. If there is one thing
that the recession taught me, it is that nature is free. We
can almost always go outside and experience the beauty and thrill of the wild. Be it a tree, a
flower, an animal, an ocean, a park, a forest, the moon – nature is all around
us with no entry fee. This is one of the reasons why I think it is essential to preserve land and forests. We
need someplace to go without concrete to renew, play, and feel truly alive.
Join us on Earth Day for this unforgettable
celebration of AVATAR with James Cameron on our blue planet. No
spaceships required. Let this be the beginning of a new decade of global consciousness and regeneration. See you there! www.avatarhometree.com
I'm hoping you managed to attend and I look forward to your review! I couldn't justify the quick flight but was there in spirit :-)
