You might be interested in a news story I put on my site today - Starbucks have had a big meeting and are going to try and get their cups recyclable by 2012 - isn't that great news!
Also, I was really interested in your paper vs plastic article. I too used to think that paper was definitely way better, until we have a guest post on our site from a lady who has done extensive research into the overall 'cost' of these two materials. Her revelations were very interesting and made me rethink things! I of course, agree with you that taking our own bags is the real way forward.
