Do you Yahoo?  Do you Green?  Yahoo is stepping up their eco quotient big time with the launch of Yahoo! Green. What began as the CFL mecca 18Seconds.org has blossomed into an impressive web of virtual green content at green.yahoo.com.

You can see the Greenest Cities, visit EcoGeek, browse Green Autos, calculate your carbon impact, and even make a personalized plan. You can scroll through a menu of green ideas and pick the ones that sound most appetizing. They are added to your My Green Plan and voila. The planet is happier already. It's the best user interface and implementation of this concept I've seen yet.

With the lights of Times Square flashing in the background, Yahoo! launched the Greenest City in America Challenge to find and reward the most eco-friendly city. The winner will be announced on Monday June 25 and will win a fleet of hybrid taxis. To kick off the competition, Yahoo! generously donated a fleet of hybrid taxis to New York City. The internet giant will also become officially carbon neutral in 2007. Now that is something to yahoo about. Exclamation point.

Global Green and actor Matt Dillon were on hand for the New York launch of Yahoo's Be A Better Planet program. There are currently 5,620 answers to Matt Dillon's question on Yahoo! Answers about ways to save energy, wow! 

Matt Dillon is an eco-convert who spoke passionately about the cause: ''Part of reducing global warming pollution can be as simple as turning off the lights, changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs and walking or using public transportation. I urge everyone to take the pledge to make their city the greenest in the country.''

I just saw this great question from Nancy Pelosi asking us what should be included in global warming legislation. There are a meager 33,000 answers so far. I'll be right back, I feel answer No. 33,001 coming on...

With a little help from Yahoo! Green and Matt Dillon, we can all become eco-citizens of our online and offline planets and yell green from the mountaintops. Now which city is going to win the contest I wonder?  green.yahoo.com
